COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. - A teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student will have to give up his teaching certification and register as a sex offender, the Lane County District Attorney said.

Gabriel Dickinson pleaded guilty to 4 counts of misdemeanor third degree sex abuse, the DA said.

Dickinson was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail and 3 years probation. The DA said the former band teacher at Cottage Grove High School must also forfeit his teaching certificate. The sentence also prohibits Dickinson from having contact with minors. He will have to register as a sex offender.
