Deputies respond to shooting in Cave Junction
UPDATE [2:00 p.m.] -
In a statement released by the Oregon State Police, the investigation has revealed that "a male drove up to a house on Kenrose Lane and began shooting at the residence. One of the occupants of the residence shot back at the vehicle."
The suspect in the car was shot, and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been made public. The Oregon State Police Major Crimes Team will continue with the investigation.
UPDATE [12:15 p.m.] -
News 10's Mike Marut is on scene in Cave Junction.
Just after 8:00 this morning, Josephine County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a shooting in the Ken Rose Lane area just south of Cave Junction.
Oregon State Police have confirmed they are assisting deputies on the call.
"We are contacting residents in the neighborhood to advise them to shelter in," a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office said. "We would advise people to avoid the area."
No further information has been released at this time.
