Driver safely escapes car fire in New Hope

New Hope, Ore. — A man was able to safely escaped after a dump truck caught on fire on Stringer Gap Rd near Cumberland Dr. Tuesday morning.

According to Rural Metro, Firefighters arrived on scene and found a 3/4 ton pickup truck fully engulfed in flames blocking one lane of traffic.

Stringer Gap Rd was temporarily shut down as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

Oregon Department of Forestry conducted a walk-through the wooded areas to ensure the fire was completely contained.

The driver says, the cause of the fire was most likely a mechanical issue.
