Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a single car crash on Highway 101 in the early hours of Friday morning.

A 2006 Chevrolet Aveo was heading southbound when it traveled off the roadway, rolled, and struck a telephone pole near milepost 290, according to OSP's preliminary investigation.

The driver, John Figura, 26, of Port Orford, was taken to the hospital in Gold Beach with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the passenger, Natalie Wilson, 24, also from Port Orford, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities suspect that driver fatigue - sleepiness - was a "contributing factor in the crash."
