Film lovers: Ashland Independent Film Festival kicks off

ASHLAND, Ore. — The Ashland Independent Film Festival kicks off Thursday.

29 out of the 120 films in the festival this year were created by local film makers.

The film festival will also have programs in Medford this year.

Festival goers will be able to see many feature films this weekend before they are released.

"A lot of these films people are going to be hearing a lot about in the months ahead, but the distributor sent them to us for our audiences to see here first." says Artistic and Executive Director Richard Herskowitz.

The film festival has been broadening their scope lately by including live performances and art exhibitions along with the films.

Saturday is "Family Day", and hands-on activities and more will be held at the Scienceworks Museum in Ashland all day.
