BEAVERTON, Ore. – A two-alarm fire destroyed a fourplex in Beaverton Thursday morning, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said.

Firefighters responded to the incident shortly after 2:30 a.m. in the 13000 block of Southwest 17th Street in Beaverton. They said they received several 911 calls.

The first firefighters at the scene attacked the fire aggressively from the ground and on ladders.

Crews were afraid the fire would spread to other fourplexes and multi-family homes nearby, but they kept it contained to the one structure.

Officials say all units in the fourplex were destroyed. There are 11 people displaced from their homes and the Red Cross is helping some of them.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said they don’t know of anyone who was injured, but the instability of the structure is preventing them from going inside to look for anyone.

They expect the building will be stabilized in daylight and they can search it then.

Investigators are working to learn how the fire started.
