Investigators say home improvement project led to fire

An Eagle Point family is recovering after their home in the 400 block of Leafwood Drive caught fire Saturday evening.

News 10 viewer William Gardner caught the flames on his cell phone as the firefighters from Fire District 3 arrived on scene.



There are no reported injuries.

Fire District 3 tells News 10 the cause is under investigation. They said it is considered accidental, caused by improper disposal of oil rags from a deck staining project.

The family that lives in the residence are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Damage estimates were not available.
