Update: Camp Fire explodes to 20,000 acres, mandatory evacuations in place

The Chico Fire Department tweeted late Thursday night that they are working to save homes along Stilson Canyon Road.

They said the fire has not yet burned into the Chico city limits.

Camp Fire Latest as of 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8:

According to Cal Fire, the Camp Fire is now 20,000 acres and remains at 0 percent contained.

The Camp Fire started around 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of Camp Creek Road in Pulga.

According to Steve Culleton, the former Paradise Mayor, the Feather River Hospital, McDonald's, Safeway, Black Bear Diner, and the Paradise Alliance Church are gone.

Cal Fire Captain Scott McLean says the Town of Paradise is "pretty much" destroyed.

According to Jenni Glass, Communications Manager at Adventist Health which is the parent company of Feather River Hospital in Paradise, 60 patients were evacuated from Feather River Hospital.

Some were taken to Enloe Hospital in Chico and some were taken to Oroville Hospital.
