Firefighters extinguish car fire in Grants Pass

Grants Pass, Ore. — Rural Metro Firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire on Lathrop road near Pinecrest Drive Tuesday afternoon.

The flaming vehicle was within a couple feet from dry grass on a slope leading up to a residence.

Amazingly the fire did not ignite the hillside.

Nearly a dozen firefighters from Oregon Department of Forestry prevented the structure.

Cause of the fire appeared to be mechanical and no injuries were reported.
