Strong winds and debris cause morning crash in Josephine County
JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. —
Driver crashes into fallen tree near the back entrance of Rogue Community College early Monday morning.
According to Rural Metro Fire, an early morning storm brought down a lot of debris onto roads in the area, including a tree on Demaray Dr. where a driver crashed into the tree.
No injuries were reported, but the driver's full size pickup truck was disabled.
After a safety evaluation for hazards and down power lines firefighters went to work sawing the tree and clearing debris from the roadway. The remnants of the tree were pushed toward the fog line and flagged with caution tape.
RMFJC asks drivers to use caution in the area during their morning commute.
"Wind storms in our area often bring down trees and large tree limbs across roads, and have been known to contribute to a number of crashes...some have been quite serious. During a windstorm after dark it is best to avoid driving, but otherwise reduce speed and ensure headlights are bright and illuminate well out in front of direction of travel," wrote Rural Metro Fire-Josephine County on their Facebook page.
