The 36th annual Southern Oregon Homes Show wrapped up at the Jackson County Expo on Sunday afternoon, but its impacts will be long-lasting.

The Building Association Southern Oregon, presenters of the show, said more than 10,000 people were in attendance at the three-day event.

"It's a win-win-win deal for everybody," said Brad Bennington, Executive Officer of BASO. "It's good for the consumers, it's good for the exhibitors and it's good for our county and neighborhoods."

According to Bennington, this year's show brought in more than $5 million in economic activity to the area.

"Our show by far is the biggest show in southern Oregon [and] fourth largest in the state," he said. "And what we've heard from our vendors is that this show is possibly the biggest show in many, many, many years. It may be the biggest show we've ever had."

In the 30,000 square foot facility, 200-plus vendors took advantage of the opportunity to put their products front and center.

"It draws in so much business for us that it's just a really good investment in our company to come and be on display here, and get leads and meet homeowners," said Diana Ivers, one of the show's vendors.

Ivers and her husband own Jam Roofing, and they've been vendors at the event for the past 8 or 9 years.

On a good year, they say they've come back from the home show with as many as 60 leads for potential customers.

"That's a lot of jobs," she said. "That's a lot of hours, and a lot of pay for our employees to get a start on our season."

Outside of the time it runs, three days are required to set up the show and two additional days are needed to tear it down. Bennington says that works provides additional jobs within the community.

BASO said they will be presenting the Josephine County Home Show for the first time in April.
