Homicide investigation underway in Klamath County
Multiple agencies are investigating a Klamath County homicide that happened in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to Eve Costello, Klamath County District Attorney.
Emergency Dispatch received a call from a man named Rex Jones just after 2:30 a.m. today, reporting that he had shot Russell Gilbert on a property on Cox Road in Crescent, Oregon. He said that Gilbert didn't appear to be breathing. When authorities arrived at the residence, they found Gilbert dead at the scene.
Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police initially responded, and then immediately activated the Major Crime Team, along with the Klamath Falls Police Department, and the Klamath County District Attorney's Office. The Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation, and any information in regards to this incident should be directed toward Sheriff Chris Kaber's office.
Jones was arrested at the scene and booked on charges of murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
