Horse rescued in tipped over trailer

A group of friends, a veterinarian, and firefighters came together in New Hope to help free a horse stuck in a trailer that fell in a ditch, on Tuesday.

The trailer apparently separated from the tow vehicle and rolled over into a ditch on Lonnon road near Elk Lane.

The horse inside was wedged in by backup bars, that are generally used to keep the animals forward of the rear doors in a trailer.

Rural Metro Firefighters used hydraulic cutting tools to remove the backup bar and then with the direction of an on-scene veterinarian and friends of the owner, they were able to free the horse.

Other than a few scratches, the horse is doing fine.
