OAKRIDGE, Ore. - Oregon Highway 58 is expected to open to all traffic at 6 p.m. Friday.

"The road has been closed for almost five full days after a massive snow storm felled almost 1,000 trees and downed power lines throughout the corridor," the Oregon Department of Transportation said in a statement. "Crews have worked night and day in hazardous conditions to prepare the road for safe travel."

The winter storm closed the highway between Pleasant Hill and Central Oregon Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019.

The closure cut off the community of Oakridge from the outside world.

A "lifeline" route to Oakridge allowed utility crews to enter the area and restore power this week.

ODOT reminds travelers to be prepared for winter driving conditions over the Cascades.
