The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man died while boating on the Rogue River in Shady Cove Monday.

The emergency call came in just before noon. A man reported that his father was drowning. The caller told dispatch that the victim had gone underwater, with his hand caught in the boat's anchor rope. He was reportedly not wearing a life jacket, according to the JCSO.

Multiple agencies responded to the area, and emergency personnel were able to retrieve the unresponsive victim from the water. After an attempt at resuscitation on the river bank, the victim was taken by ambulance from the boat ramp to Providence Medical Center in Medford. He was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has not yet been identified by authorities.

JCSO marine patrol deputies continue to investigate this boating accident, however, no further information is available at this time.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
