Ashland, Ore. - On Friday, Latino students from around southern Oregon converged on Southern Oregon University for the Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Conference.

At the conference, students went through a variety of workshops about Hispanic culture in high school and college.

Students also had a miniature college fair with the local and public Oregon colleges.

"It shows us that other people are in the same situations because many of us are first generation going into college and a lot of our family didn't get to experience it and show an example for our families," Ashley Todd, a high school student from Klamath Falls, said.
