Southern Oregon Lavender Festival adds additional weekend

KTVL/Lavender Fields Forever

The Southern Oregon Lavender Festival kicks off this weekend.

Organizers expanded the festival for two weekends due to the increasing popularity.

Four farms that will be apart of the Southern Oregon Lavender Trail are preparing for the weekend of events, including Jacksonville's "Lavender Fields Forever". Owners Bob and Caryn Gehlmann are expecting up to 2000 visitors this weekend. They farm seven different types of lavender and are so excited to host their farm during the festival for the first time.

Each farm will have different activities to enjoy, and admission is free at all venues.

"The experience of being able to see lavender [is what visitors can entail], to actually come into the fields and touch it," said Caryn Gahlmann. "It's really nice to actually watch a distillation process."

Each farm will have different activities to enjoy, hours and events differ from farm to farm.

Admission is free at all venues.
