Man arrested for drugs and running from police
EAGLE POINT, Ore. —
Jackson County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for running away from police during a vehicle and foot chase and for drug possession during the early morning of July 10, 2018.
A deputy attempted to stop 54-year-old Allen Dale Mitchell, who was driving a White Infinity G35, for a traffic violation on Highway 62 at Shasta Avenue in Eagle Point.
Mitchell didn't stop and kept going northbound through Eagle Point. Deputies say Mitchell turned onto Butte Falls Highway and stopped in the middle of the road.
He then got out his car and ran on foot, but was stopped by a deputy and arrested. A second deputy came to the scene and Mitchell was taken into custody.
A K9 searched the vehicle and alerted deputies to drugs. Methamphetamine, heroin, and equipment used for drug sales was found inside the car.
Deputies also found 15 pounds of processed marijuana in the trunk of the car. Deputies say there were passengers inside the car and they were both arrested.
27-year-old Lydia Mae Davis was arrested for violating probation on a conviction of unlawful possession of heroin, 22-year-old Taylor Nicole Shull of Eagle Point was cited and released for unlawful possession of heroin.
Mitchell was arrested for the following charges:
- Attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle
- attempting to elude an office on foot
- reckless driving
- two counts of recklessly endangering another person
- unlawful possession of heroin
- unlawful possession of methamphetamine
- unlawful delivery of heroin
- unlawful possession of marijuana
Mitchell's bond at the time of his booking was $75,000.
