Victims sought after man accused of spreading STD
The Curry County Sheriff's Office had arrested a Gold Beach man after receiving a complaint that he was spreading or attempting to spread a communicable disease through sexual contact without the knowledge of the other party.
Now two months later Josephine County is trying to figure out how many more women may have been in contact with him.
Curry Deputies first received the report of James Propes' alleged behavior months prior to his arrest in July, according to the CCSO.
The arrest stemmed from a complaint received by their investigators months prior that indicated that Propes may be spreading or attempting to spread a communicable disease through sexual contact without the knowledge of the other party.
Josephine County Under Sheriff Travis Snyder declined to comment on what he is accused of spreading through sexual contact.
"He is in jail and is not a current threat to citizens," Synder said. "He has spent some time here and we have at least one investigation if not two but the total of those affected is unclear."
Now they want anyone who had any contact with Propes to come forward and talk to investigators.
"Anyone who has information on him can be valuable," Snyder said.
Propes is in the Curry County Jail facing attempted assault in the first degree, attempt to willfully cause the spread of a communicable disease, and reckless endangering.
Due to the risk to public health, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about this case or who may have had consensual contact with Propes to contact Curry County Sheriff’s Detectives at 541-247-3242 x4.
