Talent, Ore. --

Starting January 4th, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission will start accepting applications for recreational licenses. Recreational marijuana sold in recreational stores will be taxed at a range of 17 to 20 percent. Medical dispensaries will be taxed 25 percent for recreational marijuana.

"We really need to respect the people's wishes to have access to the things they want to have access to. And regulate it in a manner that's safe and respects our communities and really gives back to them and makes everything a better place from the ground up," said Andrew Robison at Talent Health Club.

The OLCC estimates about 10 million dollars in revenue will be raised through 2017. Money from these taxes will go toward services such as the Common School Fund, Mental Health Alcoholism and Drug Services, and state police.
