Medford City Council continues to talk about Livability Team
Medford City Council held a study session to talk about the Livability Team.
The Medford Deputy Chief and Police Chief gave a presentation with options for council about what to do about the team.
The Livability Team will be made up of 3 police officers, 1 code enforcer and 1 records specialist to address those violating code enforcement throughout the city.
Funding options were laid out in the presentation.
One option is to increase the Public Safety Fee by $1.21 a month, another is to use a Cops Grant. Its a 4 year program, but will fund the team for three years, with the city having to provide funding for the 4th year, or the city can look into the Biennial Budget.
Council members favored the option of using the Cops Grant to fund the team.
If approved for the grant, it will take about 4 months before the funds come through and an additional couple months before a team is put together.
