Dozens of protesters gathered in downtown Medford to support those who were affected by the federal shutdown.

Hosted by Oregon District Two Indivisible, the message of the rally was "No Wall, No Shutdown."

Rally organizers said 40,000 Jackson County residents had less food in their homes due to the shutdown. For this reason, the Phoenix-based nonprofit used the event to also collect food for local food banks.

"We don't want President Trump to use federal workers as pawns in blackmailing the nation to get his wall," participant Dasja Dolan said.

With another potential government shutdown in four days, Oregon District Two Indivisible said they hope lawmakers will compromise to avoid the threat of shutdown once and for all.
