More than half a million dollars awarded
Jackson County, Ore. —
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office was awarded $573,000 in a grant.
The grant was given by the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to help with the enforcement of marijuana laws and the local impact of illegal marijuana market.
The funds will also create a multi-agency team that will consist of investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Medford Police Department, a crime analyst and a prosecutor.
Under the guidelines of the grant the team that will be created will have to focus specifically on the enforcement of marijuana laws.
