Myrtle Creek police officer arrested, charged with encouraging child sex abuse
MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- The Myrtle Creek Police Department has confirmed that an officer at their department was arrested Friday.
According to the Douglas County Jail, 33-year-old Alexander Marcus Salterio was arrested on charges including: Using Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct, Encouraging Child Sex Abuse, Coercion, and Aggravated Identity Theft.
According to Myrtle Creek Police Chief Don Brown, Salterio was an officer with the department for two years.
Brown said Salterio is no longer employed by the Myrtle Creek Police as of Saturday morning.
The police department has cooperated with Department of Justice 100 percent, Brown said.
He tells us officers receive extensive background checks and psych examinations.
