'One of them had serious bruises:' Witness describes aftermath of PSU hit-and-run

PORTLAND, Ore. - A Portland State University student said she was standing across the street when three women were struck by a driver near Portland State University on Friday.

Kat Caputo said she was talking to a friend and turned around when she heard yelling and sirens.

She saw several women on the ground who appeared to be injured.

"One of them had serious bruises on her back and she did not want to be touched by the paramedics. It hurt real bad,” Caputo said. “And she was yelling pretty loudly.”

Caputo said she saw two people laying on the ground and one sitting up. All three were taken away in an ambulance.

She said about 20 people were in the area at the time of the crash.

Caputo said Portland State University issued and alert to students. She received it on her phone.

She said emergency personnel arrived almost immediately after the crash.
