Overnight restraining order violation lands ex-boyfriend a hospital visit
Just after 12:30 Thursday morning, Medford Police responded to a call that an ex-boyfriend, later identified as Cory Cohen, had acted on threatening text messages.
Cohen had arrived to his previous girlfriend's house with a gun - later found to be a BB gun - to confront a new boyfriend.
The boyfriend, who remains unidentified, found a knife to defend himself, cutting Cohen in the process.
"It turns out the actual stabbing, cutting, what-have-you was justified because his life was in danger as he was being menaced with a gun which turned out to be a BB gun, but he didn't know that at the time," Lt. Mike Budreau with Medford Police said.
Cohen is currently lodged at the Jackson County Jail after being treated and released from a local hospital.
The 20-year-old currently faces one charge of violating a restraining order, but more charges may be forthcoming according to Budreau.
