SUNNY VALLEY, Ore. — On Saturday morning, Rural Metro Engine 7512 was dispatched by Josephine County 911 to a pickup truck on fire. The truck was on Interstate 5 near the Sunny Valley Exit.
According to the driver, the pickup truck experienced an unspecified mechanical problem, lost power and started to smoke coming off of Sexton Mountain Pass.
The driver was able to get the vehicle pulled over and all of the passengers in the truck including a dog exited safely.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and were able to avoid the fire spreading to nearby grass by putting it out quickly.
Oregon State Police and Oregon Department of Transportation helped with moving traffic into the fast lane so that crews could have a safe working area.
Once the vehicle was cooled off, it was taken by Caveman Towing Inc.
