Plane crash sends passenger to local hospital

Two people survive small plane crash on Tuesday night near Beagle Sky Ranch Airport (Jackson County Sheriff's Office)

A small plane crashed short of the airstrip at Beagle Sky Ranch Airport in White City on Tuesday evening.

Around 7:24 p.m., a resident called 911 to report small plane crashed in their yard roughly a half-mile from the airstrip on the 4900 block of Dodge Road.

Jackson County Fire District 3 Battalion Chief Jeff Bancroft told News 10 the plane was coming from the east to the airport, landed short of the runway and had a 'hard landing' in a horse pasture nearby.

The male pilot walked away uninjured however the female passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Mercy 105 transported the passenger to Rogue Regional Medical Center.

Jackson County Sheriff's Office says the pilot went to the hospital by private vehicle. A dog riding in the plane was uninjured. The aircraft was identified as a 1976 Cessna T210L. The circumstances of the crash will be investigated by federal authorities.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board has been notified of the incident.
