COOS BAY, Ore. - Police arrested a log truck driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana after his big rig went off the road and crashed into the Motel 6.

Coos Bay Police identified the driver as 60-year-old Benjamin Long Jr.

Officers arrested Long on a charge of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. Long was also cited for careless driving and commercial motor vehicle violations related to possession and use of marijuana, police said.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Highway 101 near Koosbay Boulevard. Police said Long lost control of the unloaded log truck aas he attempted to stop abruptly at the intersection.

The truck slid into the building, causing substantial damage, police said.

No one was injured.

Investigators believe speed, marijuana impairment and the wet road conditions all factored into the crash.

Police said the truck was southbound when the driver lost control on the wet road.
