Man shot, killed during fight at Portland's Broughton Beach, police say

A man was shot and killed Wednesday night after Portland Police say a large fight broke out at Broughton Beach along Northeast Marine Drive, Portland police said.

Officers were called out just before 9:30 p.m. on reports that someone had been shot at the beach at 4701 NE Marine Drive.

The shooter and several other people had fled the scene before police arrived at the scene. Someone started CPR before first-responders took over live-saving efforts, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said homicide detectives were being called in to investigate. One person who was watching the sunset told KATU that he heard one shot.
