Police ID suspects in armed home invasion, drugs may be involved

Central Point Police responded to a home invasion/robbery that took place on 800 block of Greenleaf Lane around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say a man was working in his garage when at least two men approached him, beat him up, and duct taped him to a chair. The suspects were both armed.

Police say there could possibly be a third suspect, but it is still being investigated.

During the incident, a friend had come to the house and was also robbed. The items are likely small.

The suspects took off in a silver Honda Civic with Texas plates.

Shortly after, Oregon State Police located the suspects in a vehicle southbound on Interstate 5 near mile marker 28 that lead to a pursuit.

Due to traffic volume at an upcoming intersection, OSP used a maneuver to stop the suspects vehicle which was heading southbound on North Phoenix Road towards Barnett Road.

The Honda crashed into a Toyota Tundra driven by a female on N. Phoenix and Juanipero Way. The woman was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Medford Police is assisting Central Point with the initial robbery case.

[UPDATE]: Police have identified two of the three suspects involved in the incident.

Ashton Shamar Garrett,21, is charged with one count of burglary, robbery, theft, menacing, assault in the fourth degree, and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. his bail is set at $147, 500.

Erick Yair Cervantes, 20, is charged with one count of robbery, burglary, theft, two counts of menacing, assault in the fourth degree, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, eluding of a police officer, reckless driving/endangerment, assault in the 4th degree. His bail is set at $170,000.

Both are currently lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

[UPDATE Wednesday, 10:16 AM] Police suspect based on the evidence that the robbery was associated with a transaction of several pounds of Marijuana. The investigation is ongoing.
