Procession route announced for Officer Williams memorial service

Ashland Police Department has released a map of the procession route for Officer Malcus Williams Celebration of Life Ceremony.

A motorcade involving family members and emergency response vehicles is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17th.

The motorcade is expected to include over a hundred public safety vehicles will begin at Southern Oregon University through downtown Ashland and back to Ashland High School.


  • From S. Mountain Ave. turn left onto Siskiyou Blvd. (Hwy. 99)
  • Travel on Siskiyou Blvd. to the split where Siskiyou Blvd. becomes Lithia Way
  • Travel on Lithia Way to the end of the downtown split at Helman St.
  • Make a left onto Church St. and a quick Left onto E. Main St. back toward SOU
  • Travel on E. Main St. until it becomes Siskiyou Blvd.
  • Continue on Siskiyou Blvd. to Ashland High School.

During the procession drivers in the area should plan ahead for road closures, traffic congestion, and long delays in the area especially on Hwy 99.

APD asks anyone who is planning on driving in the area between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or about 1:00 p.m. when the ceremony is expected to end to use an alternative route or delay plans until the conclusion of the programming.

Members of the public attending the events are asked to carpool, walk, or ride a bike as parking will be limited. Free parking will be available at all SOU parking lots during the event with the exception of lot 36.

As a reminder, the public will not be allowed to ride in the procession, but are encouraged to show support by lining along the procession route.
