Local real estate agents are helping to spread some holiday cheer for local children this year, with their "Season of Sneakers" collection.

REMAX Platinum and CPM real estate services are partnering to collect 570 brand-new pairs of shoes for a local elementary school.

Agents donate a portion of their funds after every business transaction through out the year, and use that money to buy shoes around Christmas.

REMAX principal broker Shannon Hall said the delivery is a surprise to the children, which makes the exchange even more special.

"It's very emotional, because you have so many kids that come in and they have shoes that have holes in them with no socks on," Hall said. "They've haven't ever gotten a new pair of shoes a lot of them."

Local businesses. including the Human Bean and Butler Automotive Group, have also made donations to their cause.

This is the third year the companies have done this holiday drive, helping a local apartment complex and a different elementary school in the past.

Hall said they are planning to deliver the shoes on Thursday.
