CHARLESTON, Ore. - The sheriff has made a public appeal for help identifying a woman found dead Tuesday in the rocks of the jetty at the Charleston Marina.
The woman was found dead in the rocks off Alaska Packers Way, the road on the jetty in Charleston, around 2:21 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.
The Coos County Medical Examiner determined that the woman's death was an accident.
But the woman did not have any identification on her when found, the Coos County Sheriff's Office said.
The woman was 55 to 60 years old, about 5-foot-3 and 160 pounds with short gray hair, the sheriff's office said.
She had no tattoos and was wearing "distinctive jewelry," the sheriff's office said.
"At the time of her discovery the deceased female was wearing Nike running shoes gray in color, black pants, and a blue hooded sweat shirt with the Winnie-the-Pooh character 'Eeyore' depicted on it," according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators believe she was a smoker.
