Sheriff ID driver in deadly rollover crash on Foothill Road

Jackson County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the driver in Sunday's rollover crash that killed one person.

The driver was identified as 17-year-old Robert Bernard Ernst V of Medford. Ernst was a student at North Medford High School.

The accident happened on Foothill Rd. between Corey Rd. and Villas Rd. at 2:15 p.m.

JCSO say, eyewitnesses, also teenagers, said the driver was speeding, lost control, and hit a section of trees off the roadway.

They said the 2010 blue Toyota Camry then rolled over down an embankment adjacent to an orchard. Ernst was pronounced dead at the scene.

The student was the only person in the vehicle.
