Yreka, Calif. - The Siskiyou Golden Fair has taken to using Facebook and Snapchat in an effort to attract young people to the fair this year.

Organizers say the app helps alert people to when special events during the fair happen. The woman in charge of taking photos for the app says many event times change in real-time, so Snapchat provides that opportunity to update changes.

Snapchat also gives fair-goers the chance to send in pictures for the Fair to post.

"Everyone uses Snapchat, or most people do, and we try to attract a younger crowd as well as the older crowd," Della Hayden, the Fair's official photographer, said. "I think that it's a good way to get the younger crowd here so they can see what's going on and it's not just about the livestock shows or the rodeo. There's a lot of other things going on."

If you would like to add the fair on snapchat, their username is "sisqgoldenfair."

Don't forget on Sunday, it's KTVL Day so everyone gets in the fair free!
