The Southern Oregon Home Show hosted over 200 home improvement and landscaping exhibits this weekend.

With heavy rain and snow, local businesses said homeowners should make sure their property is strong enough to stand the winter weather.

Medford-based Jam Roofing said their biggest issue of concern from customers during the winter season are leaks, due to poor workmanship. Sales representative Kyle Kern said the best way to prevent leakage is to schedule regular inspections before winter.

"By the time you see a roof leak coming through the house, it could be up in the attic," Kern said. "With isolation soaking that up, by the time we see that coming through the ceiling, at that point, it's been leaking for awhile."

Jam Roofing said their company offers free inspections for local home owners, from Medford to Eugene.

The Southern Oregon Home Show continues until Sunday at the Jackson County Expo in Central Point.
