Southern Oregon organizations to receive nearly $1.5 million in grant funds for rebuilding

Nearly $1.5 million in grant funds will be allocated to 18 organizations located in Southern Oregon to aid in the rebuilding efforts of fire-affected communities.

The 2020 Community Rebuilding Fund, a collaborative effort led by Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) in partnership with Meyer Memorial Trust, The Ford Family Foundation and American Red Cross, announced in a press release today, $4,439,256 in grants to support 40 organizations throughout eight Oregon counties.

“Fire is inevitable, catastrophes are not,” wrote Sonia Worcel, Chief Community Impact Officer, Oregon Community Foundation. “Working together, we can reduce the risks of devastating fires now and in the future while ensuring that communities and philanthropic organizations are able to respond effectively. We will continue to be collaborative, nimble, and forward-thinking, as we support community-led solutions to address crisis in our state.”

  • Chiloquin Visions in Progress to support the Chiloquin Fire Recovery and Response Initiative Chiloquin $29,000
  • Coalicion Fortaleza (CASA of Oregon) to support capacity building, $100,000
  • Jackson County Community Long Term Recovery Group (Catholic Charities of Oregon) to support the long-term recovery program for Jackson County as a result of the Almeda and Obenchain Fires, $90,105
  • Kids Unlimited to continue this trauma-informed work, through the efforts of our Family Resource Coordinator with wrap-around family supports and extended day learning for the 42 Almeda Fire families that lost everything when their Talent mobile homes burned, $85,000
  • La Clinica to hire a registered nurse and behavioral health support specialist for the Mobile Health Center, providing services for Latinx residents, farmworkers, those experiencing homelessness, and others impacted by wildfires in Jackson County, $127,500
  • La Clinica to support capacity-building, $85,000
  • Lomakatsi Restoration Project to support capacity-building efforts for wildfire response, $130,000
  • Northwest Employment Education & Defense Fund to expand legal services for forestry workers in Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties by hiring an attorney focused on outreach in Southern Oregon, $112,000
  • Northwest Seasonal Workers Association (Rogue Valley Foundation) for weekly door-to-door membership canvasses in low-income neighborhoods to reach low-income families impacted by the Almeda Fire and pandemic and to continue supplemental food & supply distributions, $49,558
  • NOWIA - Unete Center for Farmworker Advocacy to support a part-time Development Director, $45,000
  • Reimagine and Rebuild the Rogue Valley (Ashland Works) for capacity-building efforts for Reimagine and Rebuild Rogue Valley, $50,000
  • Remake Talent (Ashland School of Environmental Technology) for capacity-building to support Zone Captains and Recovery Dashboard projects in the Rogue Valley, $100,000
  • Rogue Action Center for bilingual BIPOC community organizers working with Almeda fire survivors for a community-led rebuilding of Phoenix and Talent, $78,900
  • Rogue Climate to support the Fire Relief Center, $135,000
  • Rogue Retreat to renovate a 47-unit motel into studio apartments to serve Alameda Fire victims and Jackson County's homeless population, $72,000
  • Rogue Valley Family YMCA for an increase of urgently needed, affordable and financial assisted child care services at 6 locations, $77,000
  • The Hearth to strengthen relationships and resiliency in traumatized, fire-affected communities of Talent and Phoenix, Oregon through student story circles, trained compassionate listeners, and community storytelling gatherings, $90,000
  • United Rotary Clubs of Southern Oregon to support small business owners in Jackson County through disaster recovery and build resiliency for future disasters, $30,000
