Speeding data in Jackson County

Jackson County, Ore. - Jackson County Sheriff's Office recently completed a grant-funded traffic enforcement period for speeding drivers.

From May through September, deputies issued 470 citations for speeding, and 161 citations for other violations. The average speed of drivers cited was approximately 20 MPH over the speed limit in every speed zone. The highest speed cited was 117 MPH.

Sheriff Sickler is concerned about the number of speeders on Jackson County roads and suggests drivers to watch their speed. Sickler said, “Too many people are hurt and killed because of speeding – it affects all of us in the community. We really need drivers to help out by slowing down.” According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, excessive speed is the number one contributor to crashes that result in injury or death.
