Substation Fire the #1 fire in the nation

The Substation Fire has been declared the number one fire in the nation, according to the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office.

Thursday, additional resources came from the Pacific Northwest incident management team to help. The 60 team members will help assist manage all aspects of the fire.

Personnel working the fire already consist of 217 firefighters who represent 73 fire agencies across the state.

The Fire Marshal's Office says the Oregon National Guard has been activated to help battle the flames, after Governor Kate Brown issued a statewide wildfire emergency declaration, July 18, 2018.

Resources from that declaration include, two CH-47 Chinook helicopters and HH-60M Black Hawk helicopters with Bambi water buckets.

The Fire Marshal's Office says other air tankers include "Super Scoopers" and "Fire Bosses." These tankers can drop hundreds and thousands of gallons of water. There are also single-engine air tankers.
