Suspicious death investigation in Siskiyou County
This Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office is investigating a "suspicious death" in the southern area of the county, according to a report the law enforcement released Thursday.
Just after 11 a.m. this morning, the SCSO received a report of a possible dead body found by a utility worker at the bottom of an embankment near a county road. A California Highway Patrol officer, along with SCSO units, arrived on scene and were able to confirm that it was in fact a "deceased adult."
According to authorities, there was evidence at the scene that suggests that the death was suspicious. SCSO patrol units and the Major Crimes Unit, including detectives and forensic technician are currently conducting a crime scene investigation.
“An autopsy will be scheduled this week to help detectives confirm the cause and manner of death in the case," Sheriff Jon Lopey says. "This case is still under investigation and anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office 24-hour Dispatch Center at (530) 841-2900.”
More detailed information will be released after the crime scene has been thoroughly recorded and the related on-scene investigation has been completed.
