Police: Bicyclist killed following crash on Hwy 101

Oregon State Police say the bicyclist has been identified as 25-year-old Micah Carmen Rodriguez from the Brookings area.


A bicyclist was killed following a crash on Hwy 101 at milepost 350 6 miles north of Brookings on Friday.

Oregon State Police say the incident happened about 12:20 p.m. when a bicyclist has ridden into the path of a Peterbilt tractor/trailer combination driven by 57-year-old Robert Bailey of Coos Bay.

The victim was airlifted to Rogue Regional Center in Medford where he later died from his injuries. The identity of the bicyclist is unknown at this time.

Hwy 101 was closed for about an hour and reduced to one lane as OSP investigated the cause of the crash.
