Uber/Lyft approved in the city of Ashland
The city of Ashland is now allowing Uber and Lyft ride sharing services within the city limits.
On Tuesday, city council voted four to two vote, approving the vehicles for hire ordinance, which regulates taxis in the city.
The measure repeals the requirement that taxi operators have a business license, a $60 permit is needed to operate in the city.
With objections from Lyft , the city dropped the proposed driver fingerprinting requirement and a background check of 10 years, it will now be seven years.
The dissenting votes included city councilors Mike Morris and Rich Rosenthal.
The ordinance will take effect in 30 days.
