Southern Oregon Veterans Benefit receives $250,000 check for Vietnam Memorial Wall

The Southern Oregon Veterans Benefit received a large check Thursday.

Oregon State Representative Sal Esquivel presented a check for $250,000 dollars towards the erection of a Vietnam Memorial Wall slated to be built in U.S Cellular park this year.

The benefit's original goal was to raise 500,000 dollars in total. With the addition of State Rep. Esquivel's donation, they have raised roughly 400,000 dollars.

The SOVB president Ron Kohl says they want the total funding for the wall in-pocket before construction begins.

"Because we don't want to stop," says Kohl. "We want to start it, have the funds to keep going, and finish it. Every name of the 58,479 names on that wall deserve it. And we will honor it. "
