Voter turnout making for close races in Josephine County
Voter turnout in Josephine County as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning stands at 31.4%, according to Josephine County election officials.
In terms of party affiliation, 40.2% of Democrats have turned in their ballots, while 41.3% of Republicans have voted. Non-affiliated and other voter’s total turnout stands at 46.1%.
Currently, there are about 20,304 ballots cast nearly 300 were unsigned or the signatures did not match. According to an election official, those voters will be notified by a letter about the discrepancy.
Ballots may be hand carried to the Clerk’s office in the Court House by 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Voters can drop them at any of the seven other drop site locations around the County. The drop boxes are located at county court house, Josephine Community Library in Grants Pass, the Cave Junction city building and the Hidden Valley Market on the Williams Highway. There are also drop boxes at local banks including the Umpqua Bank on Monument Drive in Merlin and Washington Federal Bank on Union Avenue in Grants Pass.
