Wanted Cave Junction man found in Duffield, Virginia

On Wednesday, Scott County deputies in Virginia picked up John Sexton, 46, from a call regarding a suspicious car and person on Double Ford Rd in the Duffield community. Sexton initially ran from authorities, but after a foot chase into the woods, deputies apprehended the suspect and took him into custody.

A preliminary investigation into Sexton's identity revealed that the suspect had an active warrant in his name, with extradition from Oregon. Sexton is a Cave Junction resident. Sexton is wanted in Oregon for:

- Attempted Murder

- Unlawful use of a firearm

- Felon in possession of a firearm

- Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (two counts)

The state of Oregon has a preset bond of $500,000.

According to court records, Sexton has a criminal history in both Josephine and Curry counties for a series of assaults, aggravated theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of a fire arm, with an additional felony for the possession of Methamphetamine dating as far back as July of 2016.

He is currently being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail, in Duffield, Virginia, according to Major Chris Holder of the Scott County Sheriff's Office. Sexton is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, October 11th in the Scott County General District Court.
