Wife, grandmother and 5 children shot at by husband
A wife, her five children and her mother were shot at by her husband on Wednesday night near Yreka.
Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbing the peace call involving a possible domestic violence and “shots fired” that happened on the 11000 block of Martin Drive. According to the victim, she, her five children and mother fled the scene after an argument with her husband. The investigation revealed the husband, 53-year-old Lee Xeng Yang, got angry during an argument in the family’s residence.
Yang then exited the structure and allegedly discharged a handgun outside. While his wife and mother were exiting the residence, Yang allegedly fired the firearm in their direction. SCSO deputies contacted the victims at another location and ensured the victims were safe and provided shelter for the night.
On Thursday, at about 8:57 a.m., Yang was found and arrested for several felony and misdemeanor charges, including willful child endangerment, negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and he was arrested for making criminal threats.
300 illicit marijuana plants were found on the property and additional charges for the illegal cultivation of marijuana are anticipated. Additional charges may be filed later time with the Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office. The firearm believed to have been discharged during the altercation was recovered by deputies. Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident and observations made at the scene by deputies, Child Protective Services was contacted.
