Oregon state Representative Pam Marsh is holding a wildfire forum in Medford on Thursday.

It will bring together local fire agencies, the State Fire Marshal's Office, the Oregon Department of Forestry, and city representatives to answer questions from the public about fire preparedness and response.

While fire season is months away, Rep. Marsh says the time to have these discussions isn't after the fires start.

"We need to do the fundamental work of how to keep ourselves as safe as possible, and the folks from these agencies experience that during every fire season, so I think they'll have a lot to share," Rep. Marsh says.

The intention is to share information, but also to find places where residents and agencies alike could do better.

The event will take place at the Asante Smullin center from 6 to 8 p-m.

It will also be recorded for those unable to make it.
