Mountain Dew says sorry to Michigan residents with special Upper Peninsula edition bottle
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLUK) -- Mountain Dew is making amends with residents after its geography gaffe snubbed the Upper Peninsula.
The soda company mistakenly made the Upper Peninsula part of Wisconsin on its map in its "DEWnited States" ad.
Upper Peninsula residents, understandably, fired back.
One Twitter account challenged Mountain Dew to make things right by coming out with a special Upper Peninsula edition bottle.
Mountain Dew agreed and is now asking residents of that area what they want to see on the bottle.
Many proud residents chimed in with photos of iconic U.P. landmarks including the Lower Harbor Ore Dock in Marquette, Porcupine Mountains, Mackinac Bridge, Les Cheneaux Islands, Tahquamenon Falls and Lake Superior.
Some also suggested images of pasties, northern lights, snowmobiling and its Finnish culture be included on the bottle.
Mountain Dew's “DEWnited States” collection features limited-edition bottles representing all 50 states and now the Upper Peninsula.
