LA GRANDE, Ore. — Oregon State Police said no one was hurt when a youth stole a minivan from a group home and led troopers on a chase Sunday afternoon.

Authorities have not released the boy’s age or whether he faces charges for the incident.

State police said it started at about 5 p.m. Sunday when they got a call about a “juvenile with disabilities, that had stolen a vehicle from the group home that he was living in.”

A witness followed the boy and gave police his location, and law enforcement eventually caught up with the vehicle along Highway 237.

Troopers said they used spike strips to flatten the car’s tires, but the boy continued to drive into the city of North Powder, Oregon.

The stolen vehicle was eventually pinned by troopers near 2nd and B Street.

OSP said the youth was brought to the La Grande Police Department, and that the juvenile department had been contacted.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office, North Powder ambulance, and La Grande Police Department all helped with the call, state police said.
